The Hippodrome was a very large racecourse/parade ground. Now it is home to three historical columns in a park-like setting. Here is one of them - an Egyptian obelisk.
After finding a bite to eat, we had our first afternoon of wandering through the crowded streets of shoppers, who visited the many small shops selling a wide variety of goods - lots of street food and restaurants, bakeries, clothing, and jewelry. We walked near the Grand Bazaar, but didn't go in, yet. People watching was quite interesting.
